Assessment Value
The State Constitution requires all properties be assessed at “fair market” value. Therefore, it is essential to maintain assessments, keep up with market prices and cope with inflation. At times, market conditions warrant Revaluation or Reassessment programs to maintain “fair market value”.
If a homeowner feels their property is over-assessed, they may file an appeal with the~Hunterdon County Board of Taxation~by calling (908) 788-1173. The annual deadline to file an appeal with the County Board is April 1. Note that appeals are based on the value of your property, not the taxes.
